Our Mission
Hawthorn Hill Ministries’ mission is to serve community needs through hospitality and support.
Background
Hawthorn Hill Ministries has been in existence since 1978. Our office is located at 3001 Grand Ave in Des Moines. We outreach and serve those in need in our community. We serve very low-income mothers with children, and over 40% of those we serve are of an ethnic status. We are a United Way of Central Iowa affiliated agency and are also a special service of the Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church and a National Mission Institution of the General Board of Global Ministries, The United Methodist Church.
We offer one program:
- " New Directions Shelter - An emergency housing shelter for homeless women with children. We served 352 homeless women and children (123 families) during 2006
